NxLevel, Competitors, & Focus Groups (Oh my!)

Today at the Cobblers' Collective, we talked about market research, specifically what we did when we started our businesses and what we've done since. One of the Cobblers highly recommended the NxLevel course put on by the Small Business Association. It's a 12 week course that he called "extremely demanding but the benefits last for years to come."

Other great advice from our session: consider all your competitors, not just the ones that do what you do, but those that do alternatives to what you do that might be selected instead of you; offer incentives for customers surveys; use focus groups when you have choices to make; look at your demographics and client needs monthly and quarterly. Great stuff, as usual, from our excellent small business owners group!
