As if Work Nimbly Weren’t Colorful Enough!

Abstract Paintings on Display for Mini-Matney Gallery Show

Creative businesses team up again for art show

Following on the success of the previous art exhibition, Work Nimbly will be hosting the “Mini-Matney” for the second time. This “pop-up gallery” is an extension of the Linda Matney Fine Art Gallery in Williamsburg. This exhibition will feature artists M. Jane Johnson and Linda Mitchell. The artworks displayed in the exhibition are on loan from the Gallery and are available for purchase.

M. Jane Johnson creates bold, vibrant, energetic, and colorful mixed media pieces based on nature. Both abstract and semi-abstract, the artist builds her contemporary and vibrant works from layers of paint, collage, and graphite, creating the distinctive textural quality of her work. She has a B.F.A. from Stratford College in Danville, Virginia and has studied under a number of leading artists including Danni Dawson, Michael Francis, Marsha Staiger, Brenda Belfield, and Delna Dashtur.

Linda Mitchell’s mixed media paintings and installations are populated by animals, both real and imagined.   The highly textured pieces are made with painted and photographic images, fabric, wood, glass, and found objects.

The Linda Matney Fine Art Gallery, located on Richmond Road, is dedicated to hosting exhibitions of innovative emerging artists, as well as displaying the work of more established national and international artists. Exhibitions displayed in the gallery include painting, sculpture, photography, video, and performance.

Work Nimbly is Williamsburg’s creative coworking space, located in the Five Forks area. Their mission is to create a community of independent workers, to foster collaboration and to provide resources to the business community, while helping the greater Williamsburg area recognize and discover it's untapped talent.
